Floating Naalukettu
Veli tourist village is one of the prime attractions in the tourism map of Trivandrum. The recent allures of this place are the modernised floating restaurant and the lakeside walkway .This floating restaurant is the first and largest of its kind in India.
This two storied restaurant is built in the traditional ‘Naalukettu’ model .Around 150 people can dine out here simultaneously. This restaurant can be attached to any part of the lake since it is built upon a floating platform. For preventing corrosion, wood and anti-rust materials are used for its construction.
People can enjoy the tasty traditional dishes here taking pleasure of the enchanting beauty of Veli Lake. Chinese, continental foods are also available in this three star eatery .A separate kitchen and service area are attached to the restaurant.
The lake side walkway from veli to Akkulam is another key feature. This aisle was done on a budget of Rs.2 crores. The evening walk having the magnificence of the lagoon will be a new experience to the sightseers.
A five crore development project is expected to be launched soon to make Veli as one of the foremost attractions in Kerala.
